Dr. Biborka Bereczky is a Consultant General, Laparoscopic, Bariatric-and Metabolic Surgeon. She graduated from Semmelweis University Budapest, Hungary in 2003 and got her Hungarian General Surgery Specialist Board Certification in 2010. She has been working at 2nd Department of General Surgery, Semmelweis University Budapest, Hungary for 13 years and became Assistant Professor in 2011. In the same year she gained her PhD degree in Molecular Oncology. Over the past years she has participated in numerous conferences, lectures and poster presentations. She has been selected for international surgical and scientific scholarships/fellowships in Japan, UK, Austria, Italy, Turkey and the UAE. She worked in the UK for four years. She moved to Dubai in 2013 and worked in Dubai Hospital for 5 years as Specialist General Surgeon in the Bariatric, Breast, Wound Management and General Surgery Teams. She completed a 3-month Advanced Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgery Fellowship with Dr. Bruno Dillemans in AZ Sint-Jan Hospital, Bruges, Belgium in 2017 and in 2018 she has been awarded the one-year Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons and worked as Senior Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Fellow in Derby, UK. During her fellowship she gained the Certificate of Individual Competency in Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy in 2019, accredited by Joint Advisory Group on GI Endoscopy, London, UK. She is member of IFSO (International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic disorders), ALSGBI (Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons Great Britain & Ireland, including Robotic & Technology Enhanced Surgery), ESMBS (Emirates Society of Metabolic- and Bariatric Surgery), EMA (Emirates Medical Association), Hungarian Surgical Society, ESCP (European Society of Coloproctology), ESSO (European Society of Surgical Oncology), European School of Oncology (ESO), EACR (European Association for Cancer Research) and „Doctors Without Borders” MSF - Médecins Sans Frontiéres international humanitarian organisation.
