Dr. Gareth Waring has over 15 years of experience in Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Maternal and Fetal Medicine. Dr. Waring earned his medical degree from the University of Sheffield, UK, in 2007. He completed his foundation training and joined the Northern Deanery rotation for specialty training in obstetrics and gynecology. During this program, he successfully applied for and completed an academic clinical fellowship in obstetrics researching inflammation related preterm birth. After higher training, he pursued training in fetal medicine and went on to pursue subspecialty training in maternal and fetal medicine in 2017. Upon completion of his training, Dr. Waring was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT). He has also been awarded a Master of Clinical Research degree with distinction from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne (Faculty of Medical Sciences), UK, in 2019. During his career, his works have been published extensively in the field of obstetrics and fetal medicine.
Dr. Waring is a prominent figure in the North of England's largest tertiary center. He assumed the role of head of service for the Fetal Medicine unit in 2022, showcasing his leadership capabilities. Additionally, Dr. Waring has demonstrated his commitment to advancing healthcare by chairing the North East and North Cumbria regional specialty groups for both Preterm Birth and Fetal Medicine. His expertise in fetal cardiology is widely recognized, having played a pivotal role in the Newcastle Hospitals fetal cardiology team. Furthermore, he served as a board member of the North East and North Cumbria Congenital Heart Disease Network, contributing significantly to the field. Dr. Waring's professional qualifications speak to his dedication and proficiency in obstetrics and fetal medicine y. He has been a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, UK, since 2015. Moreover, he completed the rigorous training required and attained certification in the Subspecialty of Maternal and Fetal Medicine from the same college in 2020, further solidifying his expertise in the field. Prior to joining Danat Al Emarat, Dr. Waring worked as a Consultant in Obstetrics and Fetal Medicine and served as head of the Fetal Medicine service at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom.
Dr. Waring’s scope of practice covers all areas of obstetrics and maternal medicine as well as diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in fetal medicine. For women at an increased risk of preterm birth, Dr. Waring provides cervical length screening and cervical cerclage. Additionally, he offvers 1 st trimester NT(nuchal translucency and anomaly scans, screening for chromosomal abnormalities such as down syndrome, NIPT (non invasive prenatal testing) T, 2nd trimester anomaly scanning, fetal dopplers monitoring for placental dysfunction, and fetal anemia, as well as significant expertise in fetal echocardiography.
