Dr. Patkar studied at the American University of the Caribbean in St. Maarten and completed her residency in Family Medicine at McMaster University. She is also currently undertaking a fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona. Most recently, she has worked in family practice in Toronto, Canada, which included basic and internal medicine, paediatrics, gynaecology, counselling and geriatric medicine. She also has experience in managing chronic diseases, emotional and complex biopsychosocial problems, and acute disorders.
